What is Web3?

To understand what Web 3.0 is, we must first check the two others. Web 1.0 is the early development of internet in 1990’s, which introduced us to WorldWideWeb and functions like HTML, URL and HTTP. Users had little to no opportunities for interactive applications, however they were more than delighted to be able to use mail and real-time news. Interactive applications improved with trading becoming popular and internet banking systems.

Web 2.0 is the internet we know today, and we use it on our daily basis. It added user-generated content, social connectivity, and interactivity to the mix. The biggest innovation and advancement in Web 2.0 era were mobile internet access and social networks. It also allowed companies like Apple, Amazon, Google, and many others to grow massively. It introduced us to the life we are living today.

Web 3.0 is the future of the internet or the next phase of evolution of the web. It is built on the concepts of decentralization, openness, and greater user utility, meaning it will be even more interactive. In what it is also different is that instead code being written and controlled by a small group of experts, it is developed with encouragement for maximum participation and experimentation.

Things that are making a difference if compared to Web 2.0:

- Decentralization, which means that no permission is needed from a central authority to post something on the web. It will present freedom of speech. Also, big databases held by Meta and Google would be broken down, and the major control will be given to users.

- Permissionless will allow people to participate on the web without any approval or limitation.

- Better connectivity between data on the Web 3.0.

- Artificial Intelligence and machine learning will make for better computer understanding of human information.
